Title for the HEADER file

HEADER information

You can also include an HTML file called HEADER at the start of the directory listing.

Notice that dot files are not displayed in the index

Try accessing the .htaccess file through the browser. It is in this directory, and you can display its contents, but you don't see it listed in the index.

Actually, even if .htaccess doesn't allow a directory to be read, it is still possible to see the contents of .htaccess, since it needs to be readable by the server.

The same is true for any file with read permission in the directory. It can always be read, if you have access to the directory, even if you can't read the contents of the directory.
